Orange EV is seeking a Procurement Specialist (Buyer/Planner) for the Kansas City, KS location.

Position Summary

The Procurement Specialist is responsible for working day-to-day purchasing activities and implementing purchasing strategies, including negotiating pricing and purchase terms with suppliers. The Procurement Specialist will evaluate component usage to forecast demand and place purchase orders to fulfill needs for production, service, and development of Orange EV vehicles. Commodities purchased by the Procurement Specialist include electrical components, motors, batteries, automotive suspension, steering, and safety components, hydraulic and pneumatic assemblies, fabricated metal assemblies, 3D printed parts, custom cut plastic and glass, and MRO or facilities items to support our operations. The Procurement Specialist may also be responsible for developing new sources for some or all of these commodities.

Position Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of procurement experience OR equivalent experience
• Demonstrated knowledge of Materials Requirements Planning (MRP)
• Demonstrated knowledge of negotiation techniques
• Professional verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to multitask and respond quickly to changing priorities
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills

Ideal Candidates May Also Have

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management or logistics
• Experience in a procurement role supporting a manufacturing environment
• Experience sourcing/developing new suppliers for custom-designed components
• Knowledge of automotive components and system operations (steering, suspension, etc.)
• Knowledge of electrical systems and/or electric vehicles
• Knowledge of 5S and lean manufacturing
• Passion for clean energy technologies like electric vehicles
