Work Status: Part-Time (up to 16 hours per week) .

SALARY EXPECTATION: $21.98 / hour 

The Jersey City Free Public Library is looking for a part-time Library Assistant to help staff and patrons in our Tech Services department.

Job Duties:

• Remove withdrawn items from our library catalog
• Unpack materials and receive books in our acquisitions system
• Process new materials for our library locations.
• Assist with various projects, such as RFID tagging.
• Any other duties under the head of Technical Services department

Essential Skills:

• Ability to compare written and printed material for accuracy.
• Ability to be detail oriented and manage cataloging system tasks.
• Ability to read with comprehension.
• Ability to follow oral and written orders, directions, or plans.
• Knowledge of general vocabulary, spelling and of standard English grammar.

Preferred Skills:

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word and Excel)
• Knowledge of integrated library systems preferably SIRSI.

Preferred Experience:

• 1+ year experience working in a library Technical Services/Cataloging environment
