Fairmont Gardens Community Center Coordinator


REPORTS TO:
Opportunity Neighborhoods-Annandale Strategy Manager


CATEGORY:
NON-EXEMPT (40 hours/week)

 

POSITION SUMMARY :
Fairmont Gardens Center Coordinator is part of the Opportunity Neighborhoods-Annandale team (ON-Annandale). As part of this unit, the Center Coordinator will oversee shared space at Fairmont Gardens, maintain good relationships with agency partners who also use the space, keep accurate records of users, and ensure that the activities carried on at the center are driven by the residents’ interests and needs. The two main goals of the center are: a) to provide a space where residents can build strong social connections and trust with each other, working together to achieve common goals that improve the quality of life for everyone in the neighborhood and b) to provide enrichment activities for children and youth, supporting academic achievement for youth and school readiness for younger children, as well as adult education activities to foster resilience and skills development.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but are not limited to):

  • Outreach and engage with community partners (non-profits, churches, County’s institutions and others) to organize and provide responsive and impactful services to the Fairmont Gardens residents.
  • Schedule all center activities and partner use of the center.
  • Anticipate the residents’ barriers and needs (technology, interpretation, etc.) to participate in the activities.
  • Nurture partnerships and good communication with other agencies to ensure compliance to the MOUs and other commitments.
  • Coordinate the work of the Center’s volunteers and motivate them to continuously improve their performance.
  • Maintain records on center use and ensure partners provide needed data for reporting.
  • Maintain safety protocols at all times.
  • Ensure space is clean and well-kept; handle all maintenance requests.
  • Treat the facility, the equipment and the furniture with care, and guarantee that the materials, supplies, pantry items and others are in good condition.
  • Timely manage and report accidents or incidents that can impact the community’s health or safety (contacting the designated emergency services, etc.
  • Monitor the residents’ noise and behaviors, fostering respect to all the Fairmont Gardens’s residents and compliance to the rules.
  • Attend Opportunity Neighborhood-Annandale (AON) Community Council or Working Group meetings as needed, as well as the Advisory Committee/Tenans meetings.
  • Works cooperatively with the AON staff and with other FACETS staff members to meet FACETS goals; participate in agency and program staff meetings to share ideas and goals. This will be one morning a month outside of regular working hours.
  • Represent FACETS in the community, in accord with Agency Mission, Vision, and Code of Ethics.
  • Ensure that all partners and participants adhere to FACETS ethical guidelines and trauma informed approach to development.
  • Open and close community center on evenings and weekends and track sharing of keyless entry code, updating code as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, education or related field preferred; comparable work/volunteer experience will be considered.
  • Bilingual Spanish
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in Spanish and English
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Strong organizational abilities, attention to detail and time management skills. Must be able to effectively plan ahead for future program needs.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. Access or other database experience desired.
  • A passion for grassroots empowerment, community voice, and the ability to develop effective working relationships with people from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to drive 16 passenger van.
  • Must be able to pass criminal background and Child Protective Services background checks.
  • Must be able to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as a regular schedule.
  • Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.

Salary Range:

  • $45,000 - $50,000 annually.
