This full-time, permanent Advanced PLC Programmer - Custom Automation Specialist opportunity is with an established and growing automation company that designs, installs, and services custom electrical automation systems, panels, and robotics. The duties and responsibilities of the successful candidate include the following:

  • Serve as a dedicated Automation Specialist / PLC Programmer in the field, managing service calls and customer interactions independently across Wisconsin and northern Illinois (minimal long-distance travel)

  • Perform on-site control troubleshooting and wiring for electrical control systems, VFDs (variable frequency drives), and DC controllers

  • Handle comprehensive project responsibilities, requiring excellent communication and independence to deliver solutions quickly and effectively
  • Must be able to multitask and effectively manage projects while maintaining a professional, helpful, and kind demeanor, as this role involves frequent customer-facing interactions

The background of the successful candidates must include the following:

  • 2+ years of practical industrial working experience in automation, PLCs, VFDs, or electrical controls, including writing PLC programs from scratch, is preferred

  • Proven ability to work independently and effectively manage a dynamic service schedule
  • Ability to read, interpret, and work with electrical drawings and schematics
  • A strong work ethic and dedication to continuous learning are essential
  • A proven track record of loyalty and dedication (minimal job hopping) is highly valued
  • Must be a team player comfortable working in a fun and direct environment
  • Must be a United States citizen or green card holder and possess a valid driver’s license
  • Must reside within 45 minutes of the Johnson Creek, WI area
