Job Description

The  Admissions Nurse is a key member of the Lincoln Trail Behavioral Health System admissions team.  The Admissions Nurse responsible for providing professional nursing care, using the nursing process, to patients within the treatment milieu (child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric), according to the Standards of Nursing Practice and Care.

Lincoln Trail Behavioral Health System is a 140-bed hospital offering inpatient services for female adolescents, adults, older adults, military/veterans and their families. Lincoln Trail Behavioral Health System has a spacious cafeteria, gymnasium, art/activity room, group rooms, classrooms and other areas to create a pleasant atmosphere for patients and their families. Lincoln Trail Behavioral Health System’s quality services are provided by psychiatrists, addictionologists , licensed therapists, certified alcohol and drug counselors, activity therapists and teachers. Also, care is given by registered nurses 24 hours a day. Since 1986, Lincoln Trail Behavioral Health System has been a proven psychiatric care provider in mental health and substance abuse.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

• Involves the administration of medications and treatment in accordance with physician orders and established nursing policies and procedures.
• Assists in patient nursing care to meet the spiritual, emotional, and physiological need of patients served.
• Knowledgeable in patient growth and development stages in the human life span as it is related to the admissions process 

Requirements:                    

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: 

• Graduate of an approved school of nursing
• Current RN licensure or work permit in the state of Kentucky
• No experience is required; however, psychiatric nursing is preferred
• Must have knowledge of family dynamics, adaptive/mal adaptive coping skills that families use, parenting skills, and ability to work with family systems in effort to resolve conflicts
• Must have basis understanding of chemically dependent families and sources available in communities to provide support to the patient and family.

Licensure/Certification:  

CPR Certification

RN Licensure

Knowledge: 

Prefer knowledge of crisis intervention and risk assessment, psychiatric diagnoses, basic chemical dependency, age specific growth and development and crisis and behavior management.
