Job Description

Position Summary:
The Accountant will be responsible for performing key accounting functions including journal entries, reconciliations, financial analysis, and month-end close processes. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in the mortgage industry and a thorough understanding of ICFR, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and contributing to a robust internal control environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage daily and monthly accounting activities including general ledger, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Prepare accurate and timely financial statements in compliance with GAAP.
• Ensure compliance with ICFR by maintaining, testing, and documenting internal controls.
• Collaborate with internal and external auditors during audits and regulatory reviews.
• Analyze financial data and provide insights to support business decisions.
• Assist in the preparation of regulatory filings related to mortgage operations.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives related to financial systems and internal controls.
• Maintain accurate documentation and ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CPA candidate preferred).
• Minimum of 3–5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in the mortgage or financial services industry.
• Solid understanding of mortgage accounting principles and regulatory reporting requirements.
• Proven experience with ICFR implementation, testing, and compliance.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and communication skills.
• Advanced MS Excel skills required.
